Vietnam Coconut Shell Handicraft Market Overview (2025)

Coconut shell tableware and decor come from dozens of small workshops around Mo Cay, Giong Trom and the Con Phung islet, not from factories. The trade ministry counted 73 coconut handicraft producers in Ben Tre with 500+ product types, most selling to tourism and wholesalers.

Wholesale bowls cost 0.23 to 0.58 US dollars ex-works at the workshop and 0.65 to 1.50 through export houses. Minimums run 100 to 150 pieces per design. Laser engraving is standard; lead times run 30 to 40 days.

Many bowls sold as Vietnamese are finished and packed by Hanoi or HCMC export houses, so ask which workshop makes yours. Design-led studios such as Cocohand carry OCOP ratings, and shell mosaic panels from Ngan Ha ship by the container to hotel projects.

FDA or LFGB food-contact claims come from exporters, never from Ben Tre workshops. Request an SGS test on the lacquer before a retail launch. Shell bowls and basketware carry the 12.5% Section 301 duty in the U.S. since July 24, 2026.
