Vietnam Coconut Oil Market Overview (2025)
Vietnam is a small coconut oil producer: about 14,000 tonnes a year against 4.8 million worldwide, where the Philippines ships 62% of exports. Its niche is organic virgin oil, not commodity copra oil.
Exports nearly doubled last year to 14,000 tonnes, and the USDA forecasts 16,000 tonnes for 2025 and 2026, led by the United States and Canada. Installed capacity is about 10,000 tonnes of crude and refined oil plus 5,000 tonnes of VCO.
Bulk formats exist at four plants only. Beinco offers 450 tonnes a month in flexibags up to 21 tonnes; ACP ships crude oil at 22 tonnes per container. Crude coconut oil traded near 2,100 US dollars per tonne CIF Rotterdam in September 2026.
Raw material is the risk: dry-nut prices tripled in three years and mills compete with desiccated coconut plants for kernel. Vietnamese coconut oil enters the U.S. free of the 12.5% Section 301 duty. EU buyers of refined oil should request 3-MCPD and glycidyl ester certificates.
