Vietnam Tea Market Overview (2025)
Vietnam is the fifth tea producer and exporter, with about 122,000 hectares. Exports reached 136,952 tonnes worth USD 238 million in 2025, a 7% drop. Most tea comes from Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Son La and Lam Dong.
Pakistan took 30% of volume in 2025 but fell sharply in 2026, while Taiwan, Russia and the United States grew. Green tea now earns more than black. Vietnamese tea sells at 55 to 65% of the world average price.
Modern tea chains in Vietnam reached about USD 617 million in 2025, which built a local base for matcha, tea powders and tapioca pearls. Exporters ship bulk tea by the 20-foot container, and private-label tea bags are widely offered.
The EU is tightening pesticide limits for tea, so require a residue report per lot. Green, black and oolong tea, tea extracts and tapioca pearls are exempt from the 12.5% U.S. Section 301 duty; milk-tea premixes are not.
