Vietnam Cashew Market Overview (2025)
Vietnam is the world’s first cashew kernel exporter for 18 years running. Exports reached a record 766,600 tonnes and over USD 5.2 billion in 2025, and Vietnam supplies about two thirds of Europe’s kernel imports.
China overtook the United States as the top market in 2025, ahead of the Netherlands. Processing is concentrated in Dong Nai, which holds half the cashew area and over half of exports.
Local nuts cover only a tenth of factory needs. Processors imported a record 3 million tonnes of raw nuts in 2025, mainly from Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Ghana, so margins follow African harvests.
Require BRCGS, IFS or FSSC 22000 plus aflatoxin and Salmonella results for each lot, and pay against original documents only. Cashews are exempt from the 12.5% U.S. Section 301 duty in force since July 24, 2026.
